Sound
Original Soundtrack (Radio Edit):
Originally, we created a Radio Edit on Audacity that symbolised different themes of our narrative.
Each song connotes a significant theme in our narrative, to embed the idea of a suspenseful atmosphere, and to create depth to our sequence.
Psychopath - comet kid ( the lyrics depict a male following a girl home from a party.) - Which relates to our party setting, and the fact that she becomes the victim.
Sweet ophelia - Zella Day (the title refers to the painting of the woman in the lake, a very moody and symbolic piece.) - Which relates to our last shot of the girl falling in to the lake.
Love lust - King Charles (the lyrics refer to the ideas of love combined with anger, lust and revenge) - Which relates back to the motive of our predatory character.
Thirteen thirty-five - Dillon (the lyrics again depict the scene of someone being stolen away for selfish needs, and against their will- delusional) - Relates to the idea of the protagonist in our narrative being taken against her will, and being disillusioned by the drugs in her system.
Final Soundtrack/Dialogue/Diegetic Sound:
Finally, because of the car scene being cut from our narrative, we decided to choose a song that was alternative to fit our thriller-hybrid, but also one that stayed conventional in the way that it built up a sense of tension and suspense. I thought that a song that I knew was perfect for this as it was a remix of a song that had a lot of drops in the rhythmn, and increased in pace and volume. I thought this would fit well with the narrative as it gets closer to the event of her 'death'; meaning that the music would foreshadow this.
I also edited in 'party' diegetic noise hat played throughout the party scenes and became distorted during the woodland scenes, to exaggerate the idea of the woodland scene beng psychological and happening at the same time as the party. I also added in sound effects sch as birds tweeting and twigs snapping to add a sense of realism to the woodland scenes, and create the sense of isolation and eeriness.
